Holiday hours for treasurer’s office revealed for tax payments – Ellwood City Ledger

County residents have until Dec. 31 to pay their 2021 property taxes.

NEW CASTLE — Lawrence County Treasurer Richard Rapone revealed the treasurer’s office holiday hours.

The office will be open Dec. 20 through Dec. 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the office and government center will be closed from Dec. 23, through Dec. 27, will be open Dec. 28 through Dec. 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will be closed Dec. 31. The government center will reopen on Jan. 3.

Property owners wishing to make 2021 county real estate tax payments can utilize the drop-off box that is located to the left of the main entrance to the government center. 

The office will not accept personal checks after Dec. 15 for county property taxes and will accept payments postmarked Dec. 31.

Going forward to the 2022 tax year, the office will accept personal checks. The office will accept cash, money order, cashier’s check or credit card. A 2.45% fee will be applied to credit card transactions. Property owners can pay online through the county website at  https://lawrencecountypa.gov/taxes. 

After-hour payments can be done at the drop box located to the left of the main entrance of the original courthouse. Any property taxes not paid by Dec. 31 will be filed with the Tax Claim Bureau and the property owner will incur additional costs. For any questions, call 724-656-2124.
